HM Plant - BSB Champions

HM Plant Honda clinch BSB title as Northwest Honda customers see it first hand.

Customers from Northwest Honda in Blackpool and Morecambe were treated to a once in a lifetime experience at the weekend. Five couples were selected to enjoy VIP access to the HM Plant Honda team at Oulton Park for the final showdown of the British Superbike Championship.

The weekend saw the Honda outfit secure its third BSB crown as Ryuichi Kiyonari took three sensational victories. Team-mate Josh Brookes made it a HM Plant Honda one-two in the standings as he took a double podium finish to help Honda claim the Manufacturer's Championship.

After a faultless ride in Saturday's race to claim the win, Kiyo took victories in both Sunday races as well. Race one proved hectic with a number of fallers although both Kiyo and Josh managed to stay clear of the debris. Notably, title rival Tommy Hill crashed out of contention and (due to the one bike rule) was unable to restart the race after the red flag. This gave Kiyo the opportunity to take the title lead after Sunday's first race, which he then went on to seal with a race and championship victory in the finale.

Kiyo said: "Saturday's race was awesome and the first race on Sunday was good for me. But, I was feeling more nervous ahead of the final race as I felt that the pressure was on me and that I had more to lose. It was a good race and I wanted to win so badly. I was pushing so hard as I knew the others needed to win, but it feels a relief now as the win was enough to be champion again. It has been tough and there has been good and bad moments, but now I can relax. The championship means as much to me as the others and I have to thank everyone for their support and the team for their hard work".

Northwest Honda's VIP guests got the chance to meet Kiyo, Josh Brookes and HM Plant Honda Superstock rider Steve Plater. With full paddock access, they also got to meet a lot of the other famous faces including Swan Honda's Stuart Eastion, SMT Honda rider Chris Walker as well Parkalgar Honda World Supersport rider Eugene Laverty. It capped a sensational weekend of fine food, plenty to drink and goody bags too. Not forgetting a chance to meet the heroes of the meeting, have a picture taken with them and grab an autograph as a souvenir.

Lee and Jane Rensall of Morecambe were beaming from their experience: "We would like to thank the team at Northwest Honda in Morecambe for choosing us" said Jane. "Lee and I have had a fantastic weekend".
